Lamb Barbacoa Tacos & Elote

Recipe: Lamb Barbacoa Tacos & Elote We started making this recipe at Cow House after Frank received a phone call from our dear friend and curator Karla Sanchez. Karla, originally from Mexico City, asked Frank to give a cooking demonstration during her then annual Zorro Festival in Wexford Town. Frank loves cooking and had been […]

Abigail Taubman‎

Abigail Taubman‎

Community update with Abigail Taubman‎

Abigail first attended Art on the Farm in 2010 and returned for two more summers before graduating from high school and heading off to Pitzer College in Claremont, California. She returned as an intern for the summer of 2014 and again last year for How to Flatten a Mountain, our new residency in collaboration with PhotoIreland. We have had the privilege of watching Abigail grow as an artist and a person over the past seven years. Her return visits and our continuing friendship epitomise what we have tried to build here at Cow House Studios, a community of individuals who share our passion for the arts, our beautiful Irish countryside and the close relationships that emerge from time shared on the farm.

Associate Artist Position

We are now accepting applications for our new associate artist position!

Cow House Studios, Wexford, Ireland seeks four associate artists to assist in delivering its educational and residency programming throughout the calendar year. The successful candidates must be gifted, exhibiting artists, capable of and eager to teach young and aspirational students. Associate artists will develop challenging and innovative lesson plans alongside Co-Directors Rosie O’Gorman and Frank Abruzzese and play a key role in mentoring young adults while encouraging artistic excellence. Additionally, associate artists will have the opportunity to avail of residency opportunities at Cow House Studios throughout the year and assist in the development and delivery of new residency and educational opportunities.

Margot Yale

Community update with Margot Yale

Margot attended our summer programme Art on the Farm in 2012. She is now in her final year at Princeton University studying art history. On a recent trip to Ireland, researching for her senior thesis, Margot took time out to visit us during our final session of 2016. She spoke with the students about her current research, her experiences at Princeton and sat in on our final critique. Margot generously agreed to answer a few of our questions to reflect upon how her experiences at Cow House Studios continue to shape her interests and professional pursuits.

One Crazy Summer

Two days ago we said goodbye to the last of our wonderful students from Art on the Farm, 2014. We were truly fortunate to have such talented, engaged and thoughtful group of students for all three of our sessions. The quiet time around the studio these past few days has given us an opportunity to […]

Empty Nest

It was just two short days ago we bid farewell to our wonderful students from session 3, and its hard to believe the summer has come to an end. Things seem just a bit too quiet around here after nine weeks of students buzzing around the studio. Our last few weeks of session 3 have […]

Our last photos from Session 1

Our days in the final week for the first session of art on the farm were filled with plenty of studio time, but we were sure to take advantage of the amazing weather too. Swimming in the pond was a daily activity, and we spent a good part of every day taking in the sunshine. […]

2012 Summer Fair Dates

As we prepare for our annual trips to schools across the United States we can’t help but get excited for another fun summer. Below is a list of fairs we will be attending this winter, the first of which happen this week in New York. These events are a wonderful opportunity to learn more about […]

Session 2 Final Photo Update

In our last week everyone was hard at work on their final projects. There was hardly a moment during the long days and nights where the studio wasn’t busy with students painting, drawing or printing in the darkroom. In our final critique it was clear everyone had made a sincere effort to find their own […]

Final Photos from Session 1

Our final week was spent hard at work in the studio. We were amazed by everyones dedication to their final projects, and this was evident in the work produced. We were treated to some wonderful paintings, drawings, photographs and even a few installations. We wish everyone the best for the rest of the summer, and […]

Art on the Farm 2011

It has been just one short week since our last session left the farm, and the place seems almost too quiet without all the busy activity in the studio. No more rummaging through the kitchen for a mid day or late night snack, or sounds of Lola barking for just one more stick to be […]

Photos! Photos! Photos!

It’s hard to believe the summer is over. It seems like just yesterday we were picking up the first group from the airport, and now the farm is quiet again. We had such a great time with everyone in our first full nine week summer. We’re really going to miss the group of characters we […]
