Agnes Irwin SSP 2014

From May 26 until June 6 Cow House Studios hosted a group from The Agnes Irwin School for a third time. In collaboration with art teacher Keri Farrow, Frank and Rosie designed a ten day curriculum focused on Irelands cultural heritage through museum visits and gallery tours in Dublin, a three day trip to County Kerry and projects developed at Cow House Studios.

Some highlights included a three day trip to County Kerry where we visited the scenic beaches of Dingle Peninsula, beautiful examples of early Christian architecture and UNESCO world heritage site Skellig Michael. A day trip to Dublin was spent viewing some contemporary art at the Gallery of Photography and Douglas Hyde Gallery, visiting with artist Alan Butler at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios,

learning about early life in Ireland at the National Museum where we saw excellent examples of early gold jewellery and preserved bog bodies.

Back at the Cow House the girls were treated to an evening of traditional Irish stories by story teller Jack Lynch and an exchange with students from Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School. Days were spent hard at work on drawing, photography and bookmaking workshops, culminating in a handmade book project.

The photographs below document their stay.
