Agnes Irwin SSP 2012
From February 20 until March 3 Cow House Studios hosted a group from The Agnes Irwin School for a second time. In collaboration with art teacher Keri Farrow, Frank and Rosie designed a two week curriculum focused on Irelands cultural heritage through museum visits and gallery tours in Dublin, and projects developed at Cow House Studios.
Highlights of our three day stay in Dublin included a walking tour through significant sites of the 1916 rebellion, a visit to Kilmainham Gaol, Fire Station Artist Studios, Royal Hibernian Academy, the Book of Kells at Trinity College, the beautiful Gold Collection at the National Museum, and the Francis Bacon studio at the Hugh Lane Dublin City Gallery.
Back in the studio we explored themes of Irish mythology and the landscape through a bookmaking project. Other highlights included a talk by visiting artist Kate Murphy, an exchange with the 5th year students from Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School in New Ross, photography and life drawing workshops, delicious meals, pavolva, banoffi, biking, swimming in the pond, and jogging around the block.
The photographs below document their stay.
