Community update with Rachel MacFarlane

It has been just over a year since we last caught up with anyone from our fantastic community of artists. Rachel MacFarlane was a visiting artist for our programme Art on the Farm during the summer of 2012. She is an immensely talented painter, generous spirit and dedicated teacher. She will be completing her MFA in Painting from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts this spring and holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Ontario College of Art and Design [2008]. Rachel is represented by Nicholas Metivier Gallery in Toronto, ON and her work has featured in several group and solo exhibitions in both North America and Europe.

Marc Horowitz

Community update with Marc Horowitz

Marc participated in our 2012 Artist Residency. He is an artist, entertainer and educator living in Los Angeles. Marc graduated from the University of Southern California Roski School of Fine Arts with a Master of Fine Arts in May 2012. He has lectured at Yale, Berkeley, CalArts, Portland State, among many other universities and establishments. In November 2012, Marc did a TEDx talk in Lake Como, Italy. Recently Marc’s film “Moving” was an official selection of the 2014 Slamdance Film Festival, and he currently teaches at USC in the new media department.

Christin Boggs

Community update with Christin Boggs

Christin was a visiting artist for our programme Art on the Farm during the summer of 2011. She is an artist, photographer, educator, and sustainable food advocate. She holds a MFA in Imaging Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology [2010] and a BFA in Art and Visual Technology from George Mason University [2007]. Her photographs have been displayed in solo and group exhibitions and appeared in both online and print publications. Christin promotes sustainable food practices through photography and community development. She is currently residing in Helsinki, Finland, as a U.S. Fulbright Fellow, documenting Finnish food culture.

Julie Lequin

Community update with Julie Lequin

Julie was a participant in our residency programme in 2009. Her work is multidisciplinary, including video, performance, watercolor, writing, props and costumes, as well as written lists, voiceovers and notes for scripts. Julie’s first book and DVD project was published in 2007 by 2nd Cannons Publications, and she has had numerous exhibitions throughout North America and Europe. Julie was the 2011 recipient of the Joseph S. Stauffer Award, and was also awarded fellowships from the Canada Council for the Arts and from the California Community Foundation. In addition to her time at Cow House Studios she has participated in residencies at Yaddo, Art Omi, Macdowell Colony, and Les Recollets in Paris.
