Ian Clark
Spirit / Matter
Through this work, I move to reconnect with once innate forms of knowledge, and physical experience becomes a device for giving emotional charge to an object or activity. Walking a familiar path, moving stones, building a fire—various systems of energy become entangled with my own.
Gathering materials and reinterpreting experiences had in a landscape, I create works that exist as miniature monuments to unknown celestial realms. Natural environments become sites for intimate, ceremonial gestures, and the internet becomes a portal through which cosmological understanding and invention emerges.
