Art on the Farm 2017: Photo Gallery
We are now more than half-way done with our first session and are happy to share a selection of photographs from an eventful two weeks. Highlights have included trips to Dublin where we saw several exhibitions including the fantastic As Above So Below at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. We were able to enjoy some free time, take in a movie and eat some tasty food. We also travelled to Galway where the folks at Gallery 126 generously shared a few words about their current exhibition and the unique structure of their organisation. We travelled to the Island of Inis Mór where we biked, explored and visited Dún Aonghasa, a 3000-year-old ring fort resting at the edge of a spectacular cliff edge.
In addition to our travels, there has been an impressive amount of artwork made in the studio. We have several students painting, working in the darkroom, and on the computers crafting video and other digital works. There was a palpable energy during our first critique and we look forward to seeing what everyone creates for their personal projects.
This year also marks a few changes to our programme. We are thrilled to be working with our new associate artists Sarah Tynan and Ann Maria Healy who have been contributing valuable insights and are now working closely with several students, helping them hone ideas for some ambitious projects. This year is also our first in offering a longer session. The extra time has allowed us to hold additional life drawing sessions, lighting demonstrations and more. Students will also avail of more time for their personal projects and we hope to work in a nice day out at the beach. Please check back throughout the summer for photo updates in our gallery section.
