Advanced Curriculum
For students returning to the Cow House for a second year we are pleased to introduce a new Advanced Curriculum which focuses on each student’s individual needs. For some, three weeks is just the start. Many will discover they love photography, or really want to concentrate on painting with oils, others will have found a new thematic direction for their work that they need to explore further. With the Advanced Curriculum we will work with you to tailor your three weeks to your specific interests and goals. Want to spend the entire time shooting and working in the darkroom? Frank can design a series of shooting assignments and darkroom workshops to take your photography to the next level. Are you trying to build a strong painting portfolio for college applications? Rosie will work with you to build a thematic link for your work, and guide you through technical and conceptual challenges. The advanced curriculum isn’t just about a singular focus. You might want to spend a majority of your time in the darkroom or painting in the studio, but this doesn’t mean you can’t participate in our figure drawing workshops or spend some of your time on a photography assignment. You will still have the opportunity to participate in all of our scheduled workshops and lectures, not to mention Art on the Farm is always evolving with new guest lecturers and counselors, different road trips, and new friends to meet. The culmination of your stay will be a final body of work that might be a continuation of a project from last summer, or a completely new idea based on your experiences over the school year. Our advanced curriculum is designed to make your second stay with us fresh and new, while retaining all your favorite experiences from the previous year.
In certain circumstances, new Art on the Farm students might want to avail of the Advanced Curriculum. If you are the type of student who is in the later stages of developing a portfolio for college applications, or has considerable experience in the darkroom or art room at school, the advanced curriculum provides a good opportunity to develop a specific body of work, and improve technical skills. If you wish to be considered for the Advanced Curriculum, you must submit a portfolio of 20 images to be reviewed, and talk with us directly to discuss suitability for the advanced course.
